Finished Measurements & Sizes
This pattern includes 9 sizes, making it easy to create a comfortable fit for everyone from babies to adults.
The headband is worked flat and crocheted until it reaches the desired length for the selected size. Because head sizes can vary, you’re encouraged to adjust the length slightly for a custom fit if needed. Once the correct length is reached, the short ends are joined to form the headband.

Pattern Notes
The turning chain does not count as a stitch unless otherwise stated.
Be sure to work your stitches into the correct stitch to maintain the rice stitch texture.
Keeping consistent tension will help ensure straight edges.
If substituting yarn, choose a similar weight to Lion Brand Wool-Ease for best results.
Stitch Abbreviations
ch - Chain
sk - Skip
st(s) - Stitch(es)
hdc - Half Double Crochet
dc - Double Crochet
fpdc - Front Post Double Crochet
bpdc- Back Post Double Crochet
Ch 13 for sizes newborn to child, ch 21 for sizes small adult to large adult
Row 1: in the 3rd st from the hook work 1 dc, dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn 11, 19 st
Note: the ch 2 at the beginning of row 1 does not count as a st.
Row 2: Hdc in first st, *fpdc, bpdc; repeat from * across, hdc in last st. Ch 1, turn. (11, 19 sts)
Repeat row 2 until the headband reaches:
Newborn: 12"
0-3 months: 13"
3-6 months: 15"
6-12 months: 16"
Toddler: 17"
Child: 19"
Small Adult: 20"
Medium Adult: 21"
Large Adult: 22"
Fasten off. Leave a long enough tail to sew the headband together.
Sewing The Headband Together
Lay the piece flat. Bring both short ends toward the center so they meet in the middle.
Fold each end in half to create four layers, aligning the edges neatly. “Sandwich” the layers together and sew across the edge, working through all four layers to secure the seam. Fasten off and weave in ends. Flip right side out.
